Handicraft / Paintings

Bihar’s artistic landscape is defined by three distinct traditional styles, each with its own unique visual language and history: 1. Mithila (Madhubani) Art is the most globally recognized style and is characterized by intricate line work and every inch of the canvas is filled with patterns using natural dyes. Here artists depict nature and mythology through vibrant, two-dimensional forms. 2. Manjusha Art hailing from the Ang region, is a sequential storytelling (scroll) art form. It is strictly defined by a three-color palette—pink, green, and yellow—and almost always features snake motifs, as it centers on the folklore of Bihula-Bishahari. 3. Tikuli Art named after "Tikuli" (bindis), craft historically used gold foil on glass. Today, it has transitioned into a fine art where artists create delicate mythological scenes on lacquered wood, using gold leaf to provide a regal, shimmering finish.
