Bawan Booti is a traditional, intricate handloom weaving technique from Bihar, India, in which exactly 52 small, identical motifs (or butis) are painstakingly woven into the silk fabric using an extra weft method. The name derives from the Hindi words bawan (52) and buti (motif). This elaborate process, performed on traditional handlooms, can take a skilled artisan several days to complete a single silk saree.
