The cotton and the Cotton linen fabric listed here are from Sigori, a village in the Paliganj block of the Patna district in Bihar - a prominent, traditional handloom cluster known for producing a variety of cotton fabrics. While primarily a weaving cluster rather than a raw cotton cultivation center, the village is famous for several unique handloom products Approximately 300 to 1,000 skilled weavers operate in this area, primarily using frame looms (60 to 66 inches wide) and traditional pit looms. The weavers are known for using VAT colors, which are highly durable, vibrant dyes. They commonly produce plain weaves as well as intricate check and stripe patterns using 32's to 60's cotton yarns.
To care for Cottons and linen-cotton blends, machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, avoiding bleach to prevent fiber damage. Hang or lay flat to dry immediately to minimize wrinkles, avoiding direct sunlight. Iron while slightly damp on medium heat, or use a steamer to remove wrinkles.
