This Shahabadi sheep warm chaddar (or shawl/blanket) is a traditional, rustic, and durable woolen item. The chaddar is exceptionally warm and designed for harsh winter conditions.The natural fleece of Shahabadi sheep is mostly grey, sometimes with black spots. As a result, the chaddar typically features natural, undyed shades of grey, black, or a mixture of these, rather than bright, dyed colors.
If hand-washing, use cold water and a mild, wool-safe detergent containing lanolin. Gently swish the item—never rub, wring, or twist, which causes felting.Always dry wool products flat in the shade on a clean surface or drying rack. Hanging a wet wool blanket can cause it to stretch and lose its shape. Always wash or dry clean items at the end of the season before packing them away. Body oils and dirt attract moths and can lead to permanent odors. Roll them tightly instead of folding. Folding creates permanent creases that can eventually break the fibers. Wrap items in cotton or muslin bags or clean bedsheets. Avoid plastic bags for long-term storage, as they trap moisture and cause mildew.Use natural repellents like dried neem leaves, lavender sachets, or cedar blocks.
